Talking about Race in the Classroom - A Training for Educators Committed to Racial Justice

In partnership with the Westchester County District Attorney's Office and Manhattanville College, the Holocaust & Human Rights Education Center presents Talking About Race in the Classroom: A Training for Educators Committed to Racial Justice.  Opening Remarks by Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr, Westchester County District Attorney and Susan Brownbill-Vega, Assistant District Attorney, Director of Community Affairs, Bias Crimes Unit Chief.  The program is presented by Border Crossers, whose mission is to train and empower educators to dismantle patterns of racism and injustice in our schools and communities.  Through this training, educators strengthen their analysis of how racism manifests in school and classrooms, enhance their understanding of how racism affects children, practice utilizing tools to address race and racism with students, and gain strategies to support a school-wide culture of respect, equity and inclusivity.  4 CTLE hours are available.  This workshop is appropriate for students who are studying to become teachers as well as for those who are current teachers.
